Dear Ms. Moore:
As you so correctly detail in your letter, one of the core issues with the DNC is the lack of coordination between the national party and the state and municipal precincts. The National Democratic County Offices and Democratic Municipal Officials provide a key infrastructure that is not being leveraged effectively for voter protection and engagement. The National party is not taking advantage of the knowledge and expertise that already exists. The recent election only too clearly demonstrated the cost to the DNC of not taking advantage of this existing infrastructure.
In my platform, I focus on the key issues of voter protection, voter engagement, and revitalizing the local and state party organizations. You already know the area. You already know the key issues that are impacting your local areas. Empowering the local organizations that already provide an essential structure with the funding, mentoring, and resources that can be provided from the national party just makes sense. In particular, your focus on training for voter protection both during the campaign and voter registration periods and during election day and convening the municipal leadership with the national organization on a regular and ongoing basis is in lockstep with my plans for voter protection, local empowerment and providing resources to the precincts.
Attached please find my platform overview. I think that you will find that we share a common vision of the necessary changes that we need to make as a party. I fully support the vision you express in this letter. It just makes sense to leverage already existing infrastructure. It also makes sense to give the NCDO and DMO a full seat at the table in terms of membership and accountability.
I look forward to working with your organizations to implement your vision and mine for the necessary changes that we need to move the party forward.
Please feel free to contact either Andy Lewis or Jack Jacobson should you need additional information.
