Lou La Monte was elected to the City Council in April 2010 and re-elected to a second term in April 2014. He served as Mayor from August 2012 to June 2013, and again from July 2016 to April 2017.
Since 2013, Councilmember La Monte has served as a presidential appointee to the League of California Cities' Housing, Community and Economic Development Policy Committee. Councilmember La Monte served as President of the California Contract Cities Association from May 2016 to May 2017, and remains on the organization's Board of Directors. In May 2016, on a recommendation from the President of the Los Angeles County Division of the League of California Cities, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors appointed Councilmember La Monte as a member of the Commission on Alcohol and Other Drugs for a three-year term expiring January 1, 2019.
In his professional life, Councilmember La Monte is a director and producer of over 3,000 commercials in more than 40 countries for major national and international clients. He also achieved success in Emmy-winning long form dramatic projects and Award-winning children's programming. He is a member of the Directors Guild of America and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
