Dear Esteemed Municipal and County Officials,
Coming from a majority red state like Idaho, most people are surprised to learn that, despite our
state’s conservative national profile, we have averaged a progressive municipal win-rate of 79%
since 2013. We understand that local leaders not only shape the conversations we have in our
communities, they have both immediate and tangible effects on the lives of the citizens they
represent. Building our bench from the local level sets our communities on a progressive path for
future elections. That’s why there are no “off” years in Idaho – just even and odd election years.
This personal experience makes it easy for me to fully approve of the goals outlined in the memo
you sent Chair candidates. One of the key pieces of my Blueprint for the DNC is a State
Partnership Program, which will exist to ensure the DNC has 57 strong, vibrant state parties to
take back our statehouses, courthouses and city halls throughout the country. Additionally, it
outlines quarterly regional training programs for state, county, and township party support staff,
as well as allied organizations, candidates, and activists. Both of these items are fully aligned
with the goals you have outlined.
I am running for DNC Chair to take our Party into the 21st Century and rebuild the DNC into a
service-based organization who will partner with state and local parties, our allies and activists
to provide the tools and support needed to win back Democratic seats up and down the ballot.
From city council to President, we must ensure every state in the nation has progressive wins in
the next 4 years. In order to achieve this, we need to bring every one of our Democratic
committees onto a level playing field so that electing a mayor is considered just as important as
a governor or U.S. Senator. As DNC Chair, I will ensure everyone receives equal respect, support
I have laid out a bold vision for the future of our Party. It sets high expectations and ensures we
will become a transparent, collaborative, connected, mutually accountable community. It is a
blueprint that redefines our purpose, and includes the concrete steps that will result in election
wins on all levels. As President of the National Association of Executive Directors, as well as the
director of a state Democratic organization, I am uniquely positioned to provide the visionary
leadership for executing this plan.
I look forward to speaking with you in the future and hearing your thoughts for the future of our
Party. In the meantime, I hope you will take a moment to visit my website and review my
Blueprint at WeTheDNC.org/Blueprint.
